The work, the need and the impact

01

The Challenge

The Challenge

Mothers represent the vital backbone of solid, harmonious families and a healthy society.

Yet they face considerable stress and minimal structured support during major life transitions.

Important phases including pregnancy, birth, and especially the critical six-week postpartum window frequently present complex challenges with breastfeeding, weaning, sleep routines, severe physical exhaustion, and isolation.

These widespread physical and emotional struggles are often not fully addressed by standard Western healthcare frameworks, leaving young families vulnerable during a crucial developmental window.

Our Aim & Approach

Our Aim & Approach

The AMI programme introduces a safe, time-tested, and holistic Ayurvedic approach to maternal care to nurture mothers and help them return to full vitality. The project focuses on:

  • City Support Teams: Establishing and training community-led volunteer groups (including grandmothers, retired individuals, and volunteers working alongside professional doulas and midwives) to provide direct local support.

  • Practical Postpartum Care: Delivering essential practical services such as home meal deliveries, specialized mother massage, self-massage training, baby massage, postpartum nutrition guidance, and herbal remedy education.

  • Online Training & Outreach: Conducting regular educational webinars, online training sessions, and continuous remote support frameworks to ensure guidance is universally accessible to families from preconception through the first years of a child’s life

Our Impact

Our Impact

By empowering communities to rally around young families, the project achieves key socio-health milestones:

  • Systemic Care Delivery: Provides a critical safety net that actively fills the gaps in postpartum care, reducing maternal isolation, restoring physical vitality, and lowering domestic stress.

  • Community Integration: Connects professional healthcare workers (midwives and doulas) with trained local volunteers, creating an enduring, intergenerational community network of “listening ears and helping hands.”

  • Scalable Education: Reaches diverse local demographics through regular, free monthly Ayurvedic webinars and structured group learning sessions to foster early-years health equity.
